I had a chance to get to know Genia Brin, Google founder Sergey Brin's mom, when we jointly served on the board of HIAS. She's an impressive woman who could sit back and relax, but instead she goes to work everyday as a NASA scientist and works on climate and forecasting projects for our nation's space agency. One of the stumbling blocks in the behind the scenes negotiations to craft a bipartisan immigration reform bill that also has the support of business and labor unions has been a proposal to create a commission that would basically determine quotas for all employment-based immigration categories. I may be ignorant here but why do you have 2 I-94s? Your I94 is invalid once you leave the country. So I would think the number on the latest and current I94 is the number you would use.

Does Lawyer receives AP and sends it to us OR does applicants receive it?
I haven't received AP yet. got EAD/FP/notices.

USCIS has announced that beginning October 1, 2010, domestic offices and U.S. territories, including the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam, will no longer be accepting cash payments. Other payment options will include money orders, credit cards, and checks (including personal checks).

As of August 14, 2009, approximately 45,000 H-1B cap-subject petitions and approximately 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap exemption had been filed. USCIS will continue to accept both cap-subject petitions and advanced degree petitions until a sufficient number of H-1B petitions (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) have been received to reach the statutory limits, taking into account the fact that some of these petitions may be denied, revoked, or withdrawn. If a H1B visa holder is in US, i know it is possible to transfer H1B to a different comapny in US. But can anyone help me understand if the same is possible if the person having the H1B visa is in india currently?

Using H1B visa, the person has worked in US for first 3 years. Now the person has applied for H1B extension and still the petition papers have not yet come. After applying extension the person has gone back to India. The person's current company is hesitating to send him back to US.

I just got a letter from USCIS saying that I need to get a police clearance(b/c my fingerprints are unclassifiable) within 30 days otherwise it may result in the denial of my application.
I am now out of states working for my U.S. employer's overseas branch and can't go back to US until end of Aug. Is there anyway I can ask USCIS to give me some extention period?

That EAD is different as far as I know. Probably they are referring to another I-765

Hello Friends,
In January I filed i765 (17 month extension) and I received the 797C notice which had a typographical error (Birth date error caused by USCIS), so I informed USCIS and got that corrected. I received a letter stating that the birth date has been corrected but eventually, when I received the approved EAD card, the error was still there. Then, I reapplied the i765 form with all the necessary docs and the original EAD card, but somehow, it got lost. I applied the whole application set again but this time with the photocopy of the EAD card, the error proofs and a cover letter but no check/money order.
It's been 1 month and I have not received any updates on my case. I called USCIS and they don't have any updates on the case. Do you think USCIS can cause a problem in approving my application and can I still work while my application is still pending.

I applied for H1-B in FY 2008 under master quota from a small consulting company.
I left US on 30th Sep 2008 as I didnt get an approved petition by that time.Hence I never worked on that approved H1-B petition
I got a approved petition. I went to New Delhi consulate for H1-B stamping. However I got a Blue 221 G slip. I never submitted any document as the consultant who applied for my visa , needs lots of time to process the documents. In the mean time I got another offer from one of the fortune 500 companies in USA. I am just exploring the possibility of H1-B transfer in this case. Ofcourse they will file a new H1-B application but would I be cap-exempt in this case?
Please help!!
